A pedestrian is dead following a collision on a busy downtown street on Saturday.

Emergency crews were called to the 200 block of Victoria Street West at about 7:15 pm for a report of a collision involving a pedestrian.

RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn told Castanet the vehicle was traveling westbound when it struck the pedestrian, identified as a man in his 40s.

“The pedestrian was transported to the hospital and later succumbed to his injuries,” she said.

Police were at the scene for hours after the crash. There has been no word yet on any charges.
