New CEO of Digital Victoria secures our digital future

The Andrews Labor government has appointed a new chief executive officer to lead the recently established Digital Victoria unit.

Michael McNamara will lead Digital Victoria and brings a wealth of experience in leadership positions in the private and public sectors.

Mr. McNamara has experience leading complex digital change, both in Australia and around the world. He has worked in the financial services and energy sectors including leading ANZ’s workplace experience transformation.

Since January 2019, Mr. McNamara has been Chief Information Officer of the Commonwealth Agency Services Australia. During the coronavirus pandemic, he led the agency in delivering online services to millions of Australians.

Mr. McNamara has many years of senior leadership experience in digital and technology transformation that he will bring to the new group formed within the Prime Minister and Cabinet Department.

He will lead Digital Victoria’s mission to grow the state’s digital economy, improve customer experiences and bring more online services to all Victorians.

Digital Victoria was founded last November, backed by a $ 195.9 million investment to centralize and simplify government IT services – to reduce costs and deliver services to residents of Victoria to enhance.

Service Victoria, now under the Digital Victoria umbrella, has played a key role in providing services to Victorians throughout the pandemic with the Service Victoria check-in app, border entry permits and more.

Mr. McNamara will take up his new role at the end of September, with the current incumbent CEO Vivien Allimonos remaining as acting CEO until then.
