New Retailer Avenue EV charging station with two areas opened in downtown Victoria – Saanich Information
Electric vehicle (EV) drivers have a new place to get a boost in downtown Victoria following the opening of the Store Street charging station on Friday.
The DC Two-Vehicle Fast Charger, also known as the Level 3 Charger, is located on the south side of Store Street, between Johnson Street and Pandora Avenue.
“We are continuing to build a sustainable city and we know that the residents will quickly switch to zero-emission vehicles,” said Victoria’s Mayor Lisa Helps. “These new fast chargers are not only a big step in reducing emissions and tackling the climate crisis, but will also be a great incentive for EV drivers to come downtown and support our local businesses.”

Depending on the vehicle model, a 30-minute boost at the station is enough to charge an electric vehicle for a journey of around 100 kilometers.
Store Street Station is part of the fourth phase of BC Hydro’s EV expansion plan, which includes partnering or adding 31 stations across the province this year. BC Hydro is also responsible for installation and maintenance.
“Through CleanBC, we are working to expand the charging infrastructure to make it easier for British Columbians to switch to electric vehicles, reduce pollution and save fuel costs,” said Bruce Ralston, Minister for Energy, Mining and Low Carbon Innovation. “The two new EV chargers in Victoria will make it easier for drivers to recharge and get BC on the road to a clean energy future.”
Victoria has made a commitment in its emissions reduction plan to expand electric vehicle chargers in urban parking garages, recreation centers, community centers and public spaces. The city plans to invest an additional $ 175,000 in expanding the local e-charging network in 2021 and 2022.
