Phrase salad obscures old-growth forests – Victoria Information

LETTER: Word salad obscures the subject of old forests

Re: Pacheedaht condemns tree felling by Fairy Creek protesters (News, Jul 29)

Sorry Kevin Rothbauer, but when it comes to the Fairy Creek Altbaum story, it’s still a mess of words and no clear idea of what will happen after this two year postponement.

When terms such as “selected older cedars” and “cultural cedars” are thrown into the dialogue, the administration, be it through the Pacheedaht or the provincial government, remains highly suspect.

Whatever the claims about the current activities of the protesters, the first rains this fall will clear all the clutter, but the felling of old trees will be a constant and visible nuisance for hundreds of years.
