Ryder Hesjedals Tour de Victoria Postponed to October 2021 after COVID Cancellation – Vancouver Island Free Day by day
An annual summer cycling tradition in Greater Victoria is shifting to fall 2021.
The Tour de Victoria by Ryder Hesjedal, a mass event where hundreds of cyclists of all ages and ability regularly test their skills on the region’s roads, was named for the 10th time from its typical location on the August calendar.
The 2020 event was canceled last August due to public health gathering restrictions.

“We’re excited to welcome cyclists of all fitness levels for a first-class ride with a traffic-free lane for the day on the scenic streets of Greater Victoria,” said Tour Director and two-time Olympian Seamus McGrathra in a press release announcing the change.
The event is designed to appeal to cyclists of all skill levels, from those looking for a comfortable, casual ride to those looking to challenge their physical limits over one of seven different distances. The Tour de Victoria routes range from 15 to 160 km and a new distance of 45 km has been added for this year.
As usual, the popular – and free – Ryder’s Kids Ride is offered for the little ones in a loop in front of the legislature and on Belleville Street.
All cruises start and end in Belleville, overlooking the Inner Harbor.
The organizers promise to continue to monitor public health regulations in the run-up to the event and take appropriate precautions to ensure that the various rides are safe for participants, volunteers and spectators.
Super early bird registration is now open, with discounted rates until April 30th. Visit tourdevictoria.com/ for more information. Ryder Hesjedals Tour de Victoria is presented by Scotiabank and produced by the Ryders Cycling Society of Canada, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting cycling across the country.
