Split Saturday to help the grocery bank
Toonie Tuesday now share Saturday
So long Toonie Tuesday, hello sharing Saturday.
The Sooke Harborside Lions Club is shifting its focus away from Toonie Tuesday – and moving towards a new fundraiser for the Sooke Food Bank – Sharing Saturday.
“Toonie Tuesday has raised less and less money for the blackboard in recent years. Tuesday is not a great day to meet a lot of people in town. Saturday is a much better day because there are more people, ”said Maxine Medhurst, a member of the Sooke Harborside Lions.
The sharing Saturday will take place on October 16; another is planned for next June.
There are several places to donate including Village Food Markets, Western Foods, Pharmasave, Home Hardware, Castle Liquor Store, Shoppers Drug Mart, and the BC Liquor Store.
Each location has a COVID-free collection container and shares information on the board.
