Victoria is a finalist within the City Jungle ‘Heroes’ competitors

Victoria McClements, 20, was nominated for the Urban Jungle’s Heroes 2020 competition by her mother, Audrey McClements, also from Antrim.

Audrey said, “My daughter Victoria has a rare life threatening illness and has not been able to protect herself with her boyfriend Conor and her grandma and grandpa for 12 weeks because I am a key worker.

“As singers, Victoria and Conor would set up their sound system in the garden every Thursday evening, entertaining the neighbors and their Facebook followers as they dedicated their songs to the NHS and the frontline staff.

“A special moment occurred when one of the nurses who saved Victoria’s life in 2012 contacted her every Thursday evening and thanked Victoria for her selfless act. Her songs reached those who helped save lives.

“Since March without income, Victoria and Conor have recently created their own duet – Bello Duo – and released their first album:“ Out of the Darkness ”.

“Despite the daily struggles she goes through, Victoria has never let her illness dictate her life and what not, and she will always be my heroine!”

Jimmy Williams, CEO of Urban Jungle, the company running the competition, said: “We believe that 2020 young adults have had to endure a lot and we want to do our part to say, ‘Thank you’.

“We wanted to meet the people, hear the stories, and thank and acknowledge those who helped us.

“Whether they were shopping for a sick neighbor, taking a break from work, when others weren’t or weren’t on the front lines, we wanted to find these young adults and share their inspiring stories.”

The winner of the competition will receive a £ 250 Amazon voucher and will become Urban Jungle’s 2020 Hero. Four finalists will also win £ 50 Amazon vouchers.
